5+ typical mistakes of working with sugar paste, and how to avoid them

Five most common mistakes in work with sugar paste

Hands of a professional sugaring expert should fly like a butterflies above the client's skin. To obtain this skill you should practice a lot. You can study independently, with “bumps and bruises”; or – minimizing time and number of mistakes – taking a special course (if the teacher is a certified expert, and not an unprofessional amateur). We are ready to give you some tips right now.

Wrong consistency of paste

The line of sugaring paste include pastes with a different consistency variety. We also suggest two lines of pastes with different density:

  • Super soft – LUXURY SOFT.
  • Soft – LUXURY NORMAL.
  • Medium – LUXURY ULTRA.
  • Hard – LUXURY ULTIMA.

To chose a right type of paste you should remember of those factors:

  • temperature: of your hands, of treated skin area, of the air in the room;
  • hair rigidity.

Here works this law: the higher is any of those temperatures, and more rigid is hair, more dense paste you will need.

To prepare paste for work, you can use :

  • special heater (the best solution for professional);
  • water bath (easy and simple you can do it at home);
  • melting in your hands (recommended for beginners, to feel the consistency). Watch carefully the paste reaction on the customer's skin.

Reheating in the microwave – is a very unprofessional and even… dangerous method. First of all, after reheating in microwave you have a destruction of monosaccharides with the following transformation of a quality product into muddy mixture with bumps – absolutely unusable substance. Second, everyone forget about the nature of microwave reheating. The product is being reheated from the inside. That's why, “professional”, taking out sugaring paste, as recommended, from the center of the jar, can feel how hot it is there. Meanwhile a sticky nature of the paste won't let you clear it fast enough, and as a result – guarantied burnt skin.

Not correct application

Hand position and angle towards the skin depend on a certain technique:

  • manual (with hands),
  • spatula,
  • squeegee-technique,
  • bandage.

Here are also many details. If you depilate with hands, it's important if you are wearing gloves. The gloves must be nitrile, fitting you right, or one size smaller. Hand must be set perpendicularly towards the skin, only three fingers of one hand are working, without thumb and pinky finger. Working fingers we keep holding tight together.

Very important: apply paste in the opposite direction of hair growth! You may and must to redo the area one more time, to achieve better adhesion (sticking), but here is also important not to overdo, to avoid paste sealing effect.

Pulling against the growth

It doesn't make sense (even some hair would be pulled out), and harmful, because it cause the ingrown hair. The possibility to depilate in the direction of hair growth is one of the main advantages of sugaring.

Not correct technique of pulling

To remove hair maximally effectively, you need to pull quite strongly, parallel direction to the skin. To regulate the strength and direction of pulling, is easier to practice by watching the correct work of expert, in other case you have to practice independently as much as possible.

Not correct skin treatment before procedure

If you followed all previous instructions, picked up the paste of correct density, mastered the technique, did not overheat the paste, and still something went wrong, try to remember, if you paid attention to pre-epilation preparations? The skin of the client must be treated with a professional body waxing supplies, which will degrease and decontaminate client`s skin.

If all instructions are followed, then there is no room for mistake, and you deserve the right to be called a real expert of sugaring epilation! (Read Memo For Your Clients).
