10 sugaring secrets from the experienced estheticians.
- Warm up the paste to the body temperature. Thus your client won’t have unpleasant feelings while you’re applying the paste and your fingers won’t get tired very quickly.
- Thoroughly apply the paste on the skin. The better the paste sticks to the skin the less unwanted hair will be left. If you apply the paste properly, the skin will be smooth and clean, and you won’t need to apply it on the same area again.
- When applying the paste, don’t keep your hand parallel to the skin, but at 90 degrees, as if you are playing the piano (as if you have an apple under your palm). This will let you tear the paste off the skin without changing the position of your fingers and help you avoid the “sticking”.
- Don’t pause after applying the paste. As soon as you applied it, tear it off immediately. Thus you will increase the speed of your work and avoid the “sticking”.
- Before removing the paste, pull the skin with your free hand (use left hand if you are right-handed) in the direction opposite of the removal direction (against the hair growth direction). Pulling the skin as much as possible lessens the pain and prevents “sticking” and bruises. NEVER tear the paste off without pulling the skin. When you remove the paste from elbows and knees, do it ONLY with the legs and arms bent.
- Tear the paste off with a quick move parallel to the skin, not upwards. The quicker your movement, the better hair is being removed and the less pain your client feels.
- Position yourself the way that you tear the paste off the skin in the direction away from you. Thus your stitch will be the quickest and strongest.
- Do not knead the paste in between and don’t roll it into a “ball”. As soon as you tear it off the skin, apply it to the next area. Thus you increase the speed of your work and avoid “sticking”.
- Start applying the paste to the hairless area, then cover the area with hair to be removed and finish applying the paste on the hairless area again. By doing that you substantially decrease the risk of “sticking” and increase the percentage of hair being removed almost to 100%.
- Covering big areas of skin with the paste is appropriate while working on the straight areas of the skin with low sensitivity (arms, legs). The bigger the covered area, the shorter the procedure. If you work on sensitive areas (deep bikini) or on the areas with difficult outlines (elbows, knees, armpits), cover smaller areas, which will allow you to remove hair with one accurate and confident movement.
